果冻影院 Program in Chemical Biology
The Program in Chemical Biology (PCB) provides resources in structure-based drug design and small molecule synthesis for chemical biology and medicinal chemistry projects. The PCB supports projects from numerous departments and centers across the 果冻影院 research enterprise and the scientific community at large. The PCB encourages investigators interested in the development and use of small molecules for basic and translational research to take advantage of its capabilities which span a range of biophysical methods for screening and quantitative analysis of binding, structural biology techniques. Major activities are organized into three teams, each of which is led by a PCB faculty member.
Capabilities
Small Molecule Screening
The small molecule screening team uses NMR spectroscopy and other biophysical techniques to identify novel ligands for purified target proteins.
Contact Francis Peterson, team leaderSynthetic Chemistry
The synthetic chemistry team leads the design, purchasing, and/or de novo synthesis of small molecules for chemical biology and medicinal chemistry projects.
Contact Brian Smith, team leaderStructural Biology
The structural biology team assists with the experimental determination of protein-ligand complexes by X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, and computational modeling.
Contact Dawn Wenzel, team leaderNominate your protein for screening
PCB employs a three-step process for screening campaigns: (1) target assessment, (2) primary screening, (3) hit validation and optimization. Investigators initiate a campaign by completing the candidate submission form, which gathers details about the screening target, including the name of the protein, structural details, and availability of purified protein.
