Biography

Dr. Pheister is an associate professor of psychiatry & behavioral medicine at the ӰԺ. Originally from the Milwaukee area, she graduated with a degree in molecular biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She went on to complete medical school at UW before pursuing a psychiatric residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. In New York, she had the opportunity to attend additional seminars at the New York Psychoanalytic Association. After returning to the Midwest, she worked on an inpatient unit and in private practice in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Dr. Pheister returned to Wisconsin in 2009 and has served as the director of residency education since September of that year.

In her clinical work, Dr. Pheister has a busy outpatient practice through Froedtert & ӰԺ, where she sees patients for long term or acute care and provides psychotherapy in addition to other modalities of treatment. Clinically, she has a particular interest in OCD as well as Borderline Personality Disorder.

Dr. Pheister is a Distinguished Fellow of the APA and serves as the Milwaukee Chapter President of the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association. She also serves on the executive committee of the Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP) and is a Member of the American Association for Directors of Psychiatry Residency Training (AADPRT).

Research Interests

Dr. Pheister is board certified in psychiatry. Her academic and clinical interests include psychotherapy, resident and medical student education, women’s mental health issues.

She sees patients at the Moorland Reserve Health Center and at the Center for Consultative Academic Psychiatric Services (CCAPS).
