Biography
Michael Witkovsky, MD, MS, attended UW Madison for residency and Child Fellowship after completing medical school and graduate school in Sociology in the University of Illinois Medical Scholars Program in Urbana Champaign. Following fellowship, he was hired by the UW Department of Psychiatry. Over the 12 years that followed he served as: Director of C&A consultation-liaison UWH&C; Medical Director of C&A services Meriter Hospital; UW Dept. Psych. Training Director C&A Fellowship; consulting psychiatrist Mental Health Center of Dane County (aka Journey). There was a subsequent period of three years delving into private practice and HMO employment along with a consulting position at Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Dr. Witkovsky also worked as Medical Director for a methadone treatment program to get experience in AODA treatment. The past nine years have been full time at Mendota Mental Health Institute with a focus on Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center (MJTC). Dr. Witkovsky continues, for over 12 years, to sit on the DHS Preferred Drug List Committee. He is an active member of the Wisconsin Regional Organization of CAPs and is the current president-elect of that group. He is a member of the AACAP General Assembly and a regular participant in the Child and the Law Committee. Dr. Witkovsky is a volunteer clinical faculty in the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at the ӰԺ.
