Biography
Hi! I’m Abby Riley, and I grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in May 2023 with degrees in Biology and Biochemistry, along with a minor in Ethics and a Women’s Health certificate.
During my time at UNI, I was a member of the cross country and track and field teams. Go Panthers! Athletics gave me the opportunity to serve on the Women of Athletics Committee, fostering a sense of belong for women on campus. Additionally, I started UNI’s chapter of Morgan’s Message, an organization focused on student-athlete mental health.
Outside of class and athletics, I found time to work as a chemistry lab assistant and a STEM tutor for the Upward Bound Program. I also volunteered for House of Hope, an organization serving single mothers experiencing homelessness and interned for a domestic and sexual violence emergency shelter. These experiences deeply influenced my journey towards becoming a genetic counselor, teaching me empathy, resilience, and the importance of holistic well-being.
In my spare time, I love curling up with a cheesy, romance novel (add me on Goodreads), attending hot yoga classes, and cherishing moments with family and friends.
I’m so excited for the future and the adventures it holds!
