Biography

My name is Adalyn Kim, and I was born and raised in the small town of Cheongju, South Korea. I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in biochemistry and a minor in Psychology. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a research assistant on studies investigating the correlation between HPV and HIV status and the presence of neutrophils. I also worked as a learning assistant for a general biology course.

During my gap year, I volunteered at various places in need of care, such as a child welfare center and a disability support center in South Korea. Additionally, I worked as a dental receptionist. Through these experiences, I developed a passion for helping others, empathizing with their pain and suffering to bring them happiness and emotional comfort.

Growing up in a relatively monocultural society, I learned the importance of understanding cultural backgrounds when working with patients during my time at the dental office. Moving to the US and becoming a minority was eye-opening for me. It helped me recognize the significance of representation in medical professionals. I am grateful to have joined the 果冻影院 third cohort, and I am impressed by how this program emphasizes the importance of diversity in genetic counseling. I can't wait to become a genetic counselor, bringing a new perspective and contributing to better education, understanding, and support within the genetic counseling community.

If you were to ask someone about me, they might say, 'Oh, the girl who bakes all the time?' That's me! I love baking, cooking, vlogging, going to the gym, taking walks, drinking coffee, and so many other things.
