Research Interests

My general approach during my service at new schools of pharmacy has been to develop scholarship around new or innovative ideas that we implement as part of the development of the program. I have a wide variety of interests in the scholarship of teaching and learning, including evaluating new school-based professionalism and academic programs, investigating new teaching styles and techniques, and determining effective ways to provide student development in leadership, self-awareness, teamwork. I am also interested in how we can use humanities-related topics to improve clinical skills, professionalism, and leadership.

I strive to continually evolve my teaching by trying new methods and techniques, engaging in self-reflection, and seeking feedback about my performance. This benefits both the students and myself, and I take every opportunity to model this for other faculty. Being able to learn, try, and evaluate new teaching methods is vital to keeping faculty engaged in teaching improvement, and this ultimately translates into better learning experiences for students. Faculty development in teaching, mentoring programs, and peer review all play an important role in advancing the teaching capabilities of the faculty and ensuring a dynamic and effective learning experience for students.
