Academic Medicine, Climate Action, and Environmental Justice Panel Discussion
This session, hosted by The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Center for Health Justice & ӰԺ (ӰԺ) Sustainability, Health and Environment (SHE) Center, presented real-world examples of how academic medical centers can address climate change and advance environmental justice both within their institutions and in partnership with local communities. It offered recommendations on how these centers and universities can facilitate university-wide strategic discussion that encourages increased focus on climate change and health equity into their educational, research, clinical, and community engagement missions. They provided recommendations on how academic medical centers and universities can create sustainable community partnerships to inform climate and health activities at their institutions and/or facilitate strategic discussion on the impact of climate change and environmental justice on the educational, research, clinical delivery, and community engagement missions.
