Working with Biologicals at the ӰԺ
The ӰԺ (ӰԺ) is committed to ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace for all employees and visitors as well as environmentally sound practices. To achieve that goal, ӰԺ has established the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) which reviews all work with biological materials that could pose an occupational health or environmental release risk. The IBC works with Principal Investigators in establishing an appropriate risk assessment to ensure that lab personnel are handling and disposing of biological materials in a safe and compliant manner. The scope of IBC review includes the handling of human/animal-derived materials, biological toxins, infectious microorganisms, and genetically engineered constructs.
